RTO & Return Policy

Our policy for shipments that cannot be successfully delivered and are returned to the sender.

RETURN MANAGEMENT

Return to Origin (RTO)

LAST UPDATED · OCTOBER 2026
01

What is RTO?

RTO means Return to Origin. When a shipment cannot be successfully delivered to the intended receiver, the parcel may be returned to the original sender or pickup location.
02

When RTO May Happen

A shipment may be marked for RTO when delivery cannot be completed because of receiver refusal, an incorrect or incomplete address, repeated unsuccessful delivery attempts, receiver unavailability, or other operational circumstances.
03

Receiver Refusal

If the receiver refuses to accept the parcel, the shipment may be treated as undeliverable and may be initiated for return to the sender, subject to the applicable service rules.
04

Incorrect or Incomplete Address

Sellers and customers are responsible for providing accurate address, mobile number, pincode, district, block and other required delivery information. Incorrect or incomplete information may result in failed delivery and RTO.
05

Receiver Unavailable

If the receiver is repeatedly unavailable or cannot be reached using the available contact information, the shipment may become eligible for RTO after reasonable delivery attempts.
06

Failed Delivery Attempts

Barir Bazar Express may make delivery attempts according to the service level and operational feasibility. If delivery remains unsuccessful after the applicable attempts, the parcel may be moved into the RTO process.
07

Contact, OTP & Verification Issues

Where delivery requires OTP, identity confirmation, receiver confirmation or other verification, failure to complete the required verification may prevent delivery and may lead to further delivery attempts or RTO.
08

RTO Initiation

Once a shipment is determined to be undeliverable, the shipment status may be updated to RTO. After RTO initiation, the parcel may enter the return transportation process.
09

RTO Transit

During RTO transit, the parcel may pass through one or more hubs or operational facilities before reaching the sender. Transit time may vary depending on location, routing and operational conditions.
10

Return to Sender

The returned parcel will normally be delivered to the sender or the designated return location associated with the shipment, subject to address accuracy and service availability.
11

RTO Charges

RTO may involve applicable return transportation, handling or service charges. Any applicable charges may be determined by the shipment type, weight, service, destination and applicable commercial terms.
12

Seller Responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for accurate shipment information, proper packaging, correct receiver details and compliance with applicable shipping requirements. Sellers should also remain available to receive returned shipments.
13

Parcel Condition During RTO

Returned parcels may experience normal handling and transportation during the return journey. Proper packaging by the sender is therefore essential to reduce the possibility of damage during transit.
14

Lost or Damaged RTO Parcel

If a parcel is lost, damaged or found short during the return process, the sender may submit a claim in accordance with the applicable Lost, Damaged & Shortage Claim Policy and required verification procedures.
15

Cancellation of RTO

Once an RTO process has been initiated, cancellation or redirection may not always be possible because the parcel may already be in return transit. Any request will be subject to operational feasibility.
16

Re-attempt Instead of RTO

Where operationally possible, a delivery re-attempt may be considered before RTO. Availability of a re-attempt depends on the shipment status, reason for failed delivery and applicable service conditions.
17

RTO & Refunds

RTO of a parcel does not automatically create a refund entitlement. Any refund relating to shipping charges, prepaid amounts or other payments will be governed by the applicable Cancellation & Refund Policy and commercial terms.
18

Prohibited or Restricted Items

Parcels containing prohibited or restricted items may be handled according to applicable law and Barir Bazar Express policies. Such shipments may be refused, stopped, returned or otherwise handled as permitted by applicable requirements.
19

Claims for RTO Issues

Any claim relating to an RTO shipment should be raised within the applicable claim period and supported by relevant shipment information, photographs, documents or other evidence requested during verification.
20

Policy Changes & Contact

Barir Bazar Express may update this policy from time to time to reflect operational, commercial or legal requirements. Customers and partners should review the latest version before using our services.
